What is Bhujapidasana?
Bhujapidasana, or Arm pressing posture, comes from the Sanskrit bhuja, which means “arm” or “shoulder”. Pida means “pressure” and asana means “poses”. This Yoga asana requires balance, flexibility, and strength in the arms and shoulders, as well as wrist strength to balance on the palms, with the legs wrapped around the shoulder or upper arms. Most of the Yoga students learn this asana in our training. Patience and Diligence give you the strength, balance, and willpower to do this Bhujapidasana.
The Yoga Trainers do not recommend Bhujapidasana for Yoga beginners, as it requires considerable strength and balance, which are typically developed over years of practicing Yoga. The trainer advised them to use only Yoga props to support the body at the initial stage. Once they have mastered the pose and gained more confidence, they should attempt to perform it without any support.
Bhujapidasana (Shoulder Pressing Pose) is an advanced arm balance pose in Yoga that builds strength, balance, and focus. The name comes from Sanskrit:
Bhuja = arm/shoulder
Pida = pressure
Asana = pose/posture
